General Information

This European Championship was the first of its kind multi-sport event, which every four years should bring together the existing European championships of some of the leading sports. However, this sporting event is not related to the European Games organized by the European Olympic Committees .

The European Athletics Championships were held in Berlin, and Glasgow hosted competitions in water sports , cycling, gymnastics , rowing and triathlon , as well as the first European golf championship .

Bonnie's Nerpa is one of the championship talismans.

The talismans of the championship were the bear of Berlin (the symbol of the European Championships in Athletics) and the seal Bonny (the mascot of the competition in Glasgow) [1] .

Berlino Bear is the mascot of the European Championships in Athletics . He first appeared at the 2009 World Athletics Championships .

At the end of the championship, the team that won the official medal credit for the number of gold medals was awarded a special cup - the European Championship Trophy [2] . The Russian team won the trophy, winning 31 gold medals.
