Evening , the Old Believers have a sweetheart ( Greek Απόδειπνον - “after evening, dinner”) - in the Byzantine rite daily rite of worship of the daily circle , performed in the temple or in cells on the days defined by the Pictikon . Compline can be either great or small , the Old Believers also preserved the average . The succession of both the Great and the Minor , the portions is at the very end of the modern Hourology [1] , which is more often published as a separate book, but also is the second part of the Psalms Investigated .
In the Latin rite , the Competorium service is an analogue of the compline (Russian Roman Catholics call it the same: “Compline”; among the medievalists it is also called the term Completory ), which includes a certain hymn, several psalms (vary depending on the day of the week), Simeon’s Song (“ Now you let go ”) and the final prayer.

- Brief instruction
Initially, the Great Compline was performed separately from other services. And now it can be performed separately - on the days of the Cheese Week established by the Typicon and on the days of Great Lent . For the first four days of Great Lent, the great canon of St. Andrew of Crete is read in Great Compline.
Maybe in the composition of the festive all-night vigil , where it unites with the lithium : on the feasts of the Nativity of Christ and the Epiphany — whatever day they come; on the Annunciation , if it happens on those days of Great Lent , when it is time to celebrate the Great Compline (on the week of the week, on the Sabbath of the Akathist , on Lazarus Saturday , on the Great Tuesday , on Great Wednesday and on the Holy Thursday (Typicon on March 25 and 26); on temple holidays , if they fall on the Saturday of the 1st week and on Tuesday - the Saturday of the 2nd - the 6th week of the Great Lent (Typicon, Temple Chapters 32, 35).
Small compline
On all other days, according to the Charter, a small compline should be performed, which represents a significant reduction of the great. According to the Charter, must be committed after the evening . On some days, the Charter indicates to make a small compline secretly. Small compline (as well as the midnight plate ) is prescribed to be performed even on great holidays , if there is no All-Night Vigil in the church for any reason (special octopes are given in octuary on Sunday services in all eight voices ).

- and then the whole ending as in Great Compline.
In the modern Russian Church , in view of the widespread practice of reducing worship, which directly joins the Matinship service immediately after vespers , a small deception has left the liturgical service only during the period of singing of the triodion both in the parishes and in most monasteries ; sometimes performed as a fraternal service after the evening meal.
During the Easter week, instead of a small compline , the Easter hour must be celebrated.
