Eddie Gordon ( born Eddie Gordon ; born July 22, 1983 , Montego Bay ) is an American fighter of Jamaican descent, a representative of medium and light heavy weight categories. He has been performing professionally since 2011, and is known for participating in tournaments of the fighting organizations UFC , PFL , Cage Fury FC , Ring of Combat, etc. The winner of the 19th season of the fighting reality show The Ultimate Fighter .

Biography

Eddie Gordon was born July 22, 1983 in Montego Bay , Jamaica , but as a child he moved permanently to the United States . He attended high school in Freeport , NY , then enrolled at Fordham University , where he earned degrees in finance and marketing. As a student, he played American football , was engaged in wrestling [1] .

After graduation, he worked as a specialist, sales manager, financial director and consultant in private companies. He started MMA with the help of his old school friend, the famous fighter Chris Weidman . He practiced Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu under the guidance of Matt Serra [2] .

Ring of Combat

He made his debut in mixed martial arts on a professional level in June 2011, having won against his opponent by points by unanimous decision. He began his career in the small promotion Ring of Combat, based in Atlantic City , where he won a total of five victories and suffered one defeat, including winning the light heavyweight champion title.

The Ultimate Fighter

In 2014, Gordon became one of the participants in the 19th season of the popular fighting reality show The Ultimate Fighter , where he appeared as a middle-weight fighter [3] . At the qualifying stage, he won points against Matt Gabel and was selected to the team of Frankie Edgar under the third number.

Mike King and Katal Pendreda successfully passed the stages of quarter-finals and semifinals, respectively, after which, in the decisive final match, he met the Brazilian Diego Lima - knocked him out already on the second mitten of the first round and thus became the winner of the show [4] .

Ultimate Fighting Championship

Thanks to a successful performance on the TUF show, Eddie Gordon got the opportunity to sign a contract with the world's largest fighting organization Ultimate Fighting Championship .

In December 2014, he entered the octagon against Josh Samman , took the first round, but in the second he missed a strong kick to the head and was knocked out.

In 2015, he spent two fights in the UFC and both lost. At first, by a separate decision of the judges, he lost to Chris Dempsey , then, in a duel with Antonio Carlus Junior, he fell into a stifling reception from behind and had to give up [5] . In the same year, he announced on his Facebook page that his relationship with the organization had come to an end [6] .

Cage Fury Fighting Championships

After leaving the UFC, Gordon had not fought for more than a year. Finally, in August 2016, he performed in the small promotion Cage Fury Fighting Championships , having won a separate decision with Chris Lozano .

The Ultimate Fighter: Redemption

In February 2017, it became known that Eddie Gordon will take part in the 25th season of The Ultimate Fighter - this season the organizers gathered fighters who had previously participated in the show. Under the third number, Gordon was selected to the team of Cody Garbrandt , but already in the opening match he lost to Tom Galicchio [7] .

Professional Fighters League

In 2018, he signed a contract with the Professional Fighters League , in the debut match of the regular season by unanimous decision he lost to the Russian Shamil Gamzatov .
