The gitas

“ The Gitas ” is a Ukrainian-American rock band, founded in 2014 by Alexander Chemerov , frontman of the Dimna Sumish ^{[1] [2] [3] [4] [5]} .

The group was founded in Los Angeles in April 2014 ^[1] . The frontman, ideologist and songwriter is Alexander Chemerov, in the past - the leader of the famous Ukrainian group Dimna Sumish , who moved to the USA in 2012 ^{[2] [4]} . The name of the group means “songs” in Sanskrit .

In January 2015, the debut mini-album “Garland” was released ^[1] . The album combined the sound of heavy guitars, Indian musical instruments (tabla and sitar), as well as synthesized sounds and beats ^[2] . In the description of the album, the band’s style was described as “soul rock with inclusions of pop, blues, punk and heavier elements”. The album was recorded with American sesion musicians under the direction of producer Jeron Lux, and the last composition of the album was attended by former members of Smoky Mix - Sergey Martynov and Neil Gopal ^[4] .

In February 2017 the first full-length album of the group was released, called “Beverly Kills” ^[6] . The title song from the album became the soundtrack to the American TV series "Music Happens Here" ^[1] .

In June 2018, a joint recording of The Gitas and the Ukrainian group “ Bumbox ” was released - the song “Trimay Me” (in Ukrainian. Hold me ) ^[3] .
