Content
History
In July 2017, a demonstration sample of a 93-mm dynamo-active infantry flamethrower RPV-16 was presented at the test site in the Chernihiv region [2] .
In November - December 2017, the Shostkin State Scientific Research Institute of Chemical Products concluded contracts with subcontracting companies for the manufacture of components for the production of flame throwers RPV-16 [3] .
On February 26, 2018, a patent was issued for a fuse for the combat unit of the RPV-16 flamethrower, [4] ; on April 10, 2018, a patent was registered for the design of the RPM-16 flame thrower [1] .
July 20, 2018, it was announced that GNIIHP had mastered the mass production of RPV-16 [5] .
In November 2018, it announced the intention to develop a simulator for training military personnel in the treatment and firing of the RPV-16 flamethrower [6]
On December 26, 2018, the press service of the Ukroboronprom concern reported that RPV-16 began to enter the troops [7] . According to official data of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, 618 units were handed over to the troops. "infantry flamethrower" [8] .
Description
The weapon consists of a launch container (a plastic pipe that acts as a barrel, which is hermetically sealed with lids from the ends) [1] . The launch container contains a shot with a thermobaric warhead [2] (a capsule filled with incendiary mixture with a detonator and a jet engine).
At the bottom of the launch canister is a pistol handle with a trigger mechanism [1] .
