Biography
Apprentice singer and poet Johannes von Soest . In 1483 he studied in Heidelberg .
In 1489 he became a pastor in Längenfeld (now the district of Velburg ). From 1500 to 1507, he served as chaplain at Staklek Castle near Baharah. After he served in Württemberg (1507-1509). He was a viola player and musical mentor in the Cathedral of the Virgin Mary in Constance .
In 1510 he lived in Augsburg . In 1511, his theoretical work Musica getutscht und außgezogen was published in Basel . After that, S. Wirdung’s track is lost.
Creativity
The author of one of the first German musical treatises, "Music Translated into German ..." (1511), published in several languages in the 16th century. Published the earliest printed treatise in Europe devoted entirely to musical instruments.
