Mühlbach (piano factory)

Promotional sheet of the plant "Mühlbach", created in 1907.

Piano factory "Mühlbach" - a company engaged in the production of pianos and concert pianos in the capital of the Russian Empire, St. Petersburg . The plant, like the company itself, existed between 1850 and 1917 (before the Russian revolution). In the 1880s, Mühlbach was the leader in sales of pianos on the Russian market.

Company History

In 1856, the Baltic artisan of German origin, Theodor Franz Adolf Mühlbach ( 1826 - 1901 , St. Petersburg ) moved to St. Petersburg . He made three simple pianos in his workshop on Officer Street. Theodor Mühlbach worked in the sales office of an Austrian piano factory that was located in Wirth . The owner of this factory was Jacob Becker . When he had saved enough money in his time, he built a whole corporation under his own name, ordering all the necessary materials from abroad, and then all the necessary devices. The first instruments made by Theodore were very similar to those of his master Jacob Becker. Soon he hired three workers and a manufacturing enterprise gradually, but at high rates it developed and expanded. Until the 1870s, his piano did not have fame, and he received it only at the All-Russian Fair in St. Petersburg, where he presented his musical instruments to a wide audience [1] .
