Carlo Maria Marini ( Italian: Carlo Maria Marini ; March 13, 1667 - January 16, 1747 ) - Italian cardinal , prefect of the House of His Holiness (1709-1715), cardinal prefect of the Holy Congregation of Rites (1726-1747), cardinal protodeacon ( 1741-1747).

Biography
Born in 1667 (according to some sources in Genoa , according to others in Rome ) in a noble Genoese family. He studied at the University of Turin [1] .
After graduation, traveled to Europe, then settled in Rome. I bought the post of clerk at the Apostolic Chamber ( Innocent XII later recognized this practice as illegal and returned the money to all who bought the posts, including Marini). Since 1709 he was appointed prefect of the House of His Holiness [1] .
On May 29, 1715, Pope Clement XI appointed him Cardinal in pectore . On December 16 of the same year, the appointment was announced openly, on February 5, 1716, Marini received a cardinal hat and the title of Cardinal Deacon with the title Santa Maria in Aquiro. [2]
Subsequently, he changed the title three times, in 1738 he received the title of Santi Vito Modesto e Crescentia , in 1739 - Sant'Agata dei Goti , and in 1741 - Santa Maria in Via Lata [2] .
From 1726 until his death, he served as cardinal prefect of the Holy Congregation of Rites , since 1741 - cardinal protodeacon . Member of the conclaves of 1724, 1730 and 1740, who elected Benedict XIII , Clement XII and Benedict XIV , respectively. In the last years of his life he enjoyed great influence, Pope Benedict XIV followed his advice in everything [1] .
He died on January 16, 1747 in Genoa, and was buried in the Franciscan church of Santissima Annunziata [1] .
