Ion Nicolae Kutselaba ( rum. Ion Nicolae Cuțelaba ; born December 14, 1993 , Chisinau ) is a Moldovan fighter of mixed style , representative of heavy and light heavyweight categories. He has been performing at a professional level since 2012, and is known primarily for participating in tournaments of UFC fight organizations. European champion in combat sambo .

Biography
Ion Kutselaba was born on December 14, 1993 in Chisinau , Moldova . Since childhood, he was fond of martial arts, as a teenager he was engaged in Greco-Roman wrestling , then he practiced sambo and judo , becoming a national champion in both these disciplines. He won the 2012 European Championship in Combat Sambo in the category up to 90 kg [1] .
Start of a professional career
He made his debut in mixed martial arts at the professional level in April 2012 at a tournament in Russia, beating his opponent by technical knockout in 27 seconds. He fought in small promotions in Bulgaria, Moldova, Kazakhstan, Ukraine, France [2] .
Collaborated with a fairly prestigious British organization Cage Warriors , here in August 2013 he suffered the first professional career defeat - in a duel with the Pole Michal Andryachak was disqualified for repeated blows to the back of the head.
Ultimate Fighting Championship
Having 11 victories in the record and only one defeat, Kutselaba attracted the attention of the world's largest fighting organization Ultimate Fighting Championship and signed a long-term contract with it in the spring of 2016 [3] . He made his debut in Octagon UFC already in June - in the light heavyweight category he met with the representative of Latvia Misha Tsirkunov and gave him a change, having fallen into the “hand triangle” in the third round [4] .
Later in 2016, on points, he won against Jonathan Wilson and lost to Jared Kannonier , earning at the same time a bonus for the best fight of the evening [5] [6] .
In June 2017, already on the 22nd second of the first round, he was knocked out by the Brazilian Enrique da Silva [7] .
In November 2017, a fight was planned against Russian Gadzhimurad Antigulov [8] , but he was forced to withdraw from the tournament due to injury, and he was replaced by a Polish novice Michal Olekeychuk [9] . However, shortly after the weigh-in ceremony, Kutselaba himself was also removed from the tournament, because the American Anti-Doping Agency suspected him of using prohibited substances - due to the beginning of the investigation, he was temporarily suspended from the competition [10] . Subsequently, the discrepancy of blood indices was explained by the sessions of ozone therapy - this procedure involves blood transfusions prohibited by the World Anti-Doping Agency . The fighter pleaded guilty and was disqualified for a period of six months [11] .
After the end of the disqualification, the UFC leadership again put him together with Gadzhimurad Antigulov at the tournament in July 2018 [12] . Kutselaba went to this fight and won by TKO in the first round.
