The Duke of Cumberland and Strathearn is an aristocratic title in the UK Peer system . The title was created for a member of the British royal family. The name of the ducal title comes from the county of Cumberland in England and the Strantern region in Scotland.

History

The title of the Duke of Cumberland was created three times in British history, in the system of British Peerry in 1723 , 1766 and 1799 .

The title of Duke of Cumberland and Strathorn was created on October 22, 1766 for Prince Henry (1745-1790), the fourth son of Frederick, Prince of Wales (1707-1751), and the grandson of King George II of Great Britain. He received the titles of the Duke of Cumberland and Strathorn, as well as the Earl of Dublin ( Peer of Ireland ). Prince Henry had no children, and after his death in 1790 all titles were interrupted.

The title of Duke of Cumberland and Taviotdale was later created in the UK Peer system.
