Presidential Election in Mali (2018)

The presidential election in Mali was held on July 29 (1st round) [1] [2] and August 12 (2nd round) 2018 . Doubts were expressed about the security of the elections and the ability of the government to hold them. In the first round, none of the candidates won more than 50% of the vote. President Ibrahim Bubakar Keita from the Unification in the name of Mali and Sumail Cisse , representing the Union for the Republic and Democracy, entered the second round. As a result, in the 2nd round, Keita received 67% of the vote and was re-elected president.

The President of Mali is elected by an absolute majority of two rounds for 5 years. [one]
