History
In the 1950s, in the course of geological exploration, an assessment was made of the Novoselitsky secondary kaolin deposit, located in the vicinity of the city of Vatutino. The Vatutinsky refractory materials plant was built in accordance with the seven-year plan for the development of the national economy of the USSR (1959 - 1965) and began work after the commissioning of the Novoselitsky quarry in 1963 [1] .
The plant's capacity was originally 180 thousand fireclay per year, production processes were fully mechanized. By the early 1970s, the control line was carried out remotely from the control center [1] .
After the launch of the chamotor kiln, the enterprise was transformed into the Vatutinsky refractory materials plant [2] [3]
In 1982, the plant began to receive raw materials from the Murzinsky kaolin quarry [2] .
In general, in Soviet times, the plant was one of the leading enterprises of the city [1] [4] [5] .
In May 1995, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine approved a decision on the privatization of the refractory materials plant and the construction and installation department subordinate to it No. 4 [6] , after which the state-owned enterprise was transformed into an open joint-stock company .
In 2005, the plant occupied 40% of the Ukrainian chamotte market [7] .
At the end of July 2007, the French company AGS [2] (which is part of the Imerys Group) became the owner of 86.25% of the plant’s shares [8] .
The plant completed its 2007 with a net profit of 3.285 million hryvnias [2] .
The economic crisis that began in 2008 complicated the situation of the enterprise; in October 2008, due to a decrease in demand for products, production was stopped. Despite the decision not to pay dividends for the year [9] , in 2008 the plant completed with a net loss of 8.466 million hryvnias [10] .
On May 27, 2009, in order to expand its kaolin career, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine handed over to the combine for lease for 8 years land plots with a total area of 14.35 hectares of land in the territory of the Nemoroz village council of Zvenigorod district of Cherkasy region [11] .
The plant completed the year 2009 with a net loss of UAH 6.509 million [12] .
The plant completed 2010 with a net profit of 11.861 million hryvnias [12] .
The plant completed the year 2013 with a net profit of 0.04 thousand hryvnias [3] .
The plant completed the year 2014 with a net loss of 0.31 thousand hryvnias [3] .
Current status
The plant produces lump and fractionated chamotte, chamotte powder, refractory calcined kaolin, kaolin powder and metakaolin. The design capacity of the furnaces of the enterprise provides the possibility of producing 320 thousand tons of calcined kaolin per year [3] [12] .
