Career
Anthony was born in Barnsley , South Yorkshire , where he began his career in the youth system of the Barnsley hometown club, signing a professional contract in October 1999. He made his first team debut under Dave Bassett on August 12, 2000 in a 1-0 win over Norwich City at the Oakwell home stadium. He finished the 2000/01 season with seven appearances in the first division, but in the next 2001/02, which was a failure for the club (he flew out of the first division) he played only one game. Originally a midfielder, he was moved to the defense center after Glyn Hodges took over as Nigel Speckman as manager in October 2002. In the 2002/03 season, Kay played 16 matches in the second division [1] .
