He studied in Toulouse , then in Marseille with Auguste Tolbek, and finally at the Paris Conservatory with Auguste Francomme . After graduating from the course in 1870, he undertook a number of touring trips, including a very successful series of performances in the UK in 1872. Returning to France, in 1882-1906. played in the Orchestra of the Concert Society of the Paris Conservatory (since 1903, concertmaster of cello [1] ). At the same time he performed as an ensemble in string quartets under the direction of Jean-Pierre Moren (the so-called Beethoven Society of the Last Quartets) and Delfin Alard , and also (in 1903) Lucien Cape .
