In 1947 he was transferred to teaching work in Riga. After leaving the military service (1950) he worked at the Institute of Energy and Electrical Engineering of the Academy of Sciences of the Latvian SSR: Senior Researcher, Head of the Laboratory, since 1954, Head. Laboratory of Metal Physics at the Institute of Physics, Academy of Sciences of the LSSR, led research on cold welding of metals.
Since 1956, the director of the Laboratory of Machine Science at the Department of Technical Sciences of the Academy of Sciences of the Latvian SSR, on the basis of which the Institute of Machine Science of the Academy of Sciences of the LSSR was established in 1958 (since 1961 - the Institute of Automation and Mechanics), and Ainbinder became the director of this institute and at the same time head of the laboratory of machine friction.
From May 1963 to August 1984, head of the Laboratory of Friction and Wear of Polymers of the Institute of Polymer Mechanics of the Academy of Sciences of Latvia.
Doctor of Technical Sciences (1967), Professor (1968).
