In 2017 Gazpromneft-Sakhalin, a subsidiary of Gazprom Neft , completed drilling and testing a prospecting and appraisal well in the Ayashsky license area offshore the Sea of ​​Okhotsk . ^[4] Based on the results of the work, a new hydrocarbon field was discovered with estimated geological reserves of about 415.8 million tons of oil in the C1 + C2 categories, called "Neptune" ^{[5] [6]} .

Work on the construction of the well was carried out by Gazpromneft-Sakhalin, the Scientific and Technical Center Gazprom Neft participated in supporting the construction of the well. Based on the results obtained, a geological model is built and reserves are calculated. Core and fluid studies, interpretation of geophysical well survey data have been performed. At present, Gazpromneft-Sakhalin continues the construction of a second well in the Ayashsky section. Experts at Wood Mackenzie, an international consulting company, have included it in the twenty most anticipated exploration wells of 2018.

Since December 2015, Gazpromneft-Sakhalin LLC has been organizing and is conducting systematic work to reduce the dependence on imports of equipment, components, spare parts and services of foreign companies for projects implemented on the continental shelf of the Russian Federation .
