Biography
The representative of the old Russian noble family of the Velyashevs .
Sister of Anna and Dmitry Velyashev-Volintsev . The wife of Colonel Nikolai Nikanorovich Annenkov (1764-1839). P.N. Arapov calls her among the "ladies of high society" who wrote for the theater.
P. Velyasheva-Volintseva translated from French the one-act comedy by L. de Boissy, “The French in London” (published by N. I. Novikov , 1782). Devoting her work to the state lady A.R. Chernysheva , P. Velyasheva-Volyntseva thanked her for her “gracious” and “condescending to all” methods , which demonstrates her connection with patrons from the highest court circles. The translation of P. Velyasheva-Volyntseva is mentioned in the publication: “Dramatic Dictionary” (1787).
She also owns a translation from French moral-sentimental drama S.-A. de Longheil, “Aglinsky Orphans” (1787), previously translated by A. P. Golitsyn under the name “Aglinsky Orphans” (1775).
M.N. Makarov wrote about P. Velyasheva-Volyntseva:
“She is known for dramatic translations, which, although at one time were not on the stage of our theaters, they at least read them with pleasure.”
Perhaps, A. A. Palitsyn had it in mind, referring to “Messages to Greetings” (1807) among the female writers to Velyashev.
Being the wife of Annenkova instilled literary interests in her children: Barbara, Ivan and Nikolai. The daughter of P. Velyasheva-Volyntseva - Varvara Nikolaevna Annenkova (1795-1870), later became a well-known poetess who, unlike her mother and aunt, never married and began to be published relatively late, only in the forties of the XIX century, but was similar to its predecessors in creative "zeal" . A close friend and literary associate of M. Lermontov , V. Annenkova was the author of numerous poems, poetic tales and four one-act poetry dramas (in particular, Charlotte Cordou (1866)).
