Sports career
He played for the HHIJC club from The Hague, which includes many members of the national team. Four-time champion of the Netherlands (1948, 1949, 1951 and 1952).
As a member of the Dutch national team, he won 48 matches: becoming the silver winner of the Summer Olympics in Helsinki (1952) and bronze in London (1948). Corresponding to his nickname “Auster Player”, he took only one stick for the London Olympics and when she broke, he played with a stick borrowed from a teammate.
