Sports career

He played for the HHIJC club from The Hague, which includes many members of the national team. Four-time champion of the Netherlands (1948, 1949, 1951 and 1952).

As a member of the Dutch national team, he won 48 matches: becoming the silver winner of the Summer Olympics in Helsinki (1952) and bronze in London (1948).
