One of the strongest players in the history of the Mexican "UANL Tigres" . He played for the national team of Peru , which included a champion of South America in 1975 and a participant in the 1982 World Cup .

Club career

In adult football, he made his debut in 1972 with performances for the team of the Sport Boys club , in which he spent one season.

During 1974-1975 he defended the colors of the Defensor Lima club team.

His game for the last team drew the attention of representatives of the coaching staff of the Mexican "UANL Tigres" , to which he joined in 1975. He played for the Monterrey team the next seven seasons of his playing career. He was a key player of the "UNL Tigres" of that period, and is also considered one of the best football players of the club in history.

After the 1982 World Cup, there was a substantive interest in Barbadillo from European clubs, one of which, the Italian Avellino , which at the time was performing in the elite Serie A , added his team to Peruvian in the summer of the same 1982. In this team, Jeronimo spent three seasons, during which Avellino primarily fought to save a place in the top division.

In 1985, he moved to Udinese , another then-outsider of the Serie A. He spent the season 1985/86 for the team from Udine , after which he ended his professional career.

National team performances

In 1973 he made his debut in official matches in the national team of Peru .

As part of the national team was a participant in the 1975 America’s Cup , in particular, he entered the field in two of three matches that made up the final competition in which Peruvians defeated Colombia , thus obtaining the second continental title in its history.

He was a member of the 1982 World Cup , held in Spain , taking part in all three matches of his team in the tournament. In their group, Peru started with no draws against Cameroon and Italy , but the crushing defeat in the last game against Poland (1: 5) crossed their hopes of reaching the second group stage.

In total, during his career in the national team, which lasted until 1985, he played 19 matches in his uniform, scoring 3 goals.
