The monument to Ushakov was erected in the city of Saransk in the city center on Cathedral Square, in front of the city cathedral , in 2006 . The authors of the monument are Mordovian sculptor N. Filatov and Mordovian architect S. Khodnev [1] . The monument is made of bronze .

Description
The name of Admiral Fedor Fedorovich Ushakov is closely connected with Mordovia . The great naval commander spent the last years of his life on Mordovian soil in the estate of Alekseevka. His relics rest in the Sanaksar monastery of the Temnikovsky district of the republic [2] . After being ranked among the saints by the Russian Orthodox Church in 2001, he is considered the patron saint of Mordovia.
The monument is a bronze statue of the admiral, mounted on a granite pedestal. The admiral is depicted without a hat, in Ushakov’s right hand the sculptor depicted a telescope , and the naval commander’s left hand reaches for the sword . He is dressed in an admiralty suit and boots , on a tunic numerous medals and orders are visible [3] .
The height of the sculpture without a pedestal is 4 meters. The monument was built on donations from parishioners of the cathedral.
The opening ceremony of the monument to Admiral Fedor Ushakov was attended by Russian President Vladimir Putin . The head of state laid a bouquet of red roses at the foot of the monument [4] .
