Initially, the site belongs to the house of Tepper de Ferguson , he was occupied by the garden of the house. Later, Countess E.I. Igelstrom owned the site. The existing wooden house was erected in the 1880s. architect A.F. Vidov for the official, real state adviser Vasily Ivanovich Vuich. After the October Revolution, the house was given over to apartments. In 1930, the writer A.N. Tolstoy , who lived in it until 1938, settled in the house. During the time spent in the house, he worked on the novel "Peter the Great" , the trilogy "Walking through the agony" and other works. Tolstoy’s office was on the second floor.
