Nikolai Petrovich Kosarev (born May 22, 1953 , Verkhoturye ) is a Russian scientist and teacher . Doctor of technical sciences , professor . Rector of the Ural State Mining University in 2002―2017 [1] .

Biography
Born May 22, 1953 in the city of Verkhoturye , Sverdlovsk Region . Father - Peter Ignatievich, worked as head of the railway station Verkhoturye, mother - Evgenia Mikhailovna, worked in the freight yard of the railway station.
In 1955, the family moved to Serov, Sverdlovsk Region. In 1970 he graduated from secondary school No. 16 there, after which he entered the Sverdlovsk Mining Institute with a degree in mining machines and underground mining complexes.
All further work of Kosarev is connected with the institute. Lenin scholarship holder in 1972-1975. Since 1971, he has been a participant in student construction teams: fighter, master, three times commander of the MTR.
In 1975 he graduated with honors from the Mining Institute. In 1975-1976 - Secretary of the Komsomol Committee of the Sverdlovsk Mining Institute, in 1976 791979. - Postgraduate student of the Department of Mining Mechanics, in 1979-1982. - Assistant of the Department of Mining Mechanics, in 1982-1987. - Senior Researcher, in 1987-1989. - Associate Professor , since 1989 - Professor.
In 1979, he defended his thesis on " Development and research of methods and means to increase the efficiency of mine main fan installations with axial fans ", and in 1988, his doctoral dissertation on the topic " Scientific and technical foundations of structural design and optimization of operation of fans for main ventilation of the subways " .
Since 1992 - Dean of the Faculty of Continuing Education. From 1998 to 2002 - Head of the Department of Mining Mechanics [2] .
From December 2002 to August 2017 - rector of the Ural State Mining University (re-elected three times). During the stay of Kosarev as rector at the university, the Orthodox Church of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker was revived, new departments and faculties were opened, the number of students increased. The university itself from the academy became a university [3] .
He resigned in August 2017 after an audit was carried out at the university on compliance with budget legislation, as a result of which two criminal cases were initiated under the articles “attempted fraud ” and “ misappropriation ” [4] . Kosarev himself was not involved in the case, and he motivated his request for resignation by the fact that he was not going to be re-elected for the fourth time and wanted to provide an opportunity for the new leader to start his work at the same time as the start of the new school year, and not in the middle of it, when it was supposed to expire initially term of office [5] . Kosarev's successor was Alexei Vladimirovich Dushin .
He is currently the editor-in-chief of the scientific and technical journal Izvestia Ural State Mining University.
The author of 146 publications, has 25 copyright certificates and 5 patents.
In 2006, he headed the Sverdlovsk Regional Regional Branch of the All-Russian Pedagogical Assembly public organization, and is a member of the federal governing body of this organization. He is also co-chair of the Sverdlovsk Regional Branch of the United People's Front of Russia .
It is part of the permanent commission of the Yekaterinburg City Council on the safety of life. The trustee of V.V. Putin during the 2018 presidential election .
Married, has children [2] .

Honorary Worker of Higher Professional Education of the Russian Federation (2000). Academician of the International Academy of Ecology, Human and Nature Safety (2009) and full member of the Academy of Mining Sciences (2009) [2] .
