Biography
Vare entered the military service on August 5, 1782 as a simple soldier in the Conde dragoon regiment. April 20, 1788 resigned. On July 14, 1789 he resumed his service with the rank of junior lieutenant of the National Guard of Versailles, after which he became a senior adjutant. July 12, 1790 received the rank of lieutenant of the grenadiers. October 19, 1791 led the 4th battalion of volunteers of the Seine and Oise. From 1792 to 1796 he served in the ranks of the Moselle and Northern armies. He took part in the battle of Ondskot September 8, 1793.
August 20, 1794 promoted to colonel, and appointed commander of the 43rd semi-brigade of infantry. On June 14, 1796, he led the 54th Line Semi-Brigade in the Batavian Army. In 1800 he served in the Rhine Army . He distinguished himself in the battle of Hohenlinden on December 3, 1800. September 23, 1801 joined the Batavian army of General Augereau . In October 1802, Vare was included in the expedition of General Victor to Louisiana , and after the cancellation of the expedition he served in Hanover .
On August 29, 1803 he was promoted to brigadier general in the Bayonne military camp. November 16 defined in the military camp of Brest.
September 12, 1805 led the 3rd Brigade (43rd and 55th Line Regiments) of the Infantry Division of General St. Hilaire of the 4th Corps of the Great Army . He took part in the Austrian campaign of 1805, distinguished himself in the battle of Austerlitz. Continuing to command the brigade, took part in the Prussian and Polish campaigns, fought at Jena and Lübeck. On February 8, 1807, he was seriously wounded by bullets in his left leg and right shoulder in the battle of Eilau, after which he was taken to Thorn, where, despite all the efforts of the famous surgeon Percy , he died on March 14, 1807, at the age of 41.
