Biography
Moritz Furstenberg was born on May 15, 1818 in the city of Berlin. He attended lectures at the university of his native city , then at the veterinary school of the German capital (1843), where he received the degree of veterinarian I degree; then engaged in chemical research under the leadership of Eilhard Mitcherlich [1] .
The scientific works of M. G. Furstenberg concern mainly diseases of domestic animals and parasites associated with them, as well as the anatomy and physiology of cattle and small cattle [1] .
For great services, especially in the study of pet parasites, Moritz Heinrich Fürstenberg in 1865 was awarded the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Greifswald with an honorary doctorate in medicine [1] .
Among the many works of Fürstenberg, the most famous are the following: "Ueber die Entstehung und Zusamensetzung der Steine und Concremente im Körper der Haussäugethiere" ("Magazin für ges. Thierheilkunde", 1844); "Uebertragung des Markschwammes v. Rinde auf den Menschen "(" Mag. Etc. ", 1862); Die acute Fettdegeneration der neugeborenen Hausthiere (Virchow's Arch., 1864); “Die Krätzmilben des Menschen und Thiere” (Leipzig, 1862; all literature on scabies, which appeared before his time, and an anatomical description of all parasites that cause this disease) are collected; Die Drehkrankheit der Schaafe (Ann. D. Landw., V. 62); "Untersuchungen über den Einfluss der Fütterung trichineuhaltigen Fleisches bei Hausthieren" ("Magazin etc.", 1865); "Die Miescher'schen Schläuche" ("Mitth. Naturw. Ver. Vorpommern", 1869); "Ueber einige Zellen mit verdickten Wänden im Thierkörper" (Müllers "Arch. F. Anat. U. Physiol.", 1857); Die Bildung des Fettes im Thierkörpes (Landw. Zeit. U. Wochenschr. F. Thierheilk., 1867); "Die Milchdrüsen der Kuh" (Leipzig, 1868); Anatomie und Physiologie des Rindes (Berlin, 1872; an essay completed by Leisinger containing exclusively his own observations of a scientist). In addition, Furstenberg published a large number of articles on practical zootherapy [1] .
Moritz Heinrich Furstenberg died on September 13, 1872 in Greifswald [2] .
