Refers to closed beginnings .

One of the most popular and relevant queen gambit systems. They are mentioned in the Gottingen manuscript and in the book of Damiano , in the analyzes of R. Lopez , A. Salvio and F. Stamma . It was used in matches between Labourdonne and McDonnell (1834), Steinitz - Zuckertort (1872), where Steinitz showed an acceptable method of playing for black. The adopted queen's gambit was enriched with valuable ideas: A. Alekhine , M. Botvinnik , V. Smyslov , T. Petrosyan and others.

In the opening, White is striving to create a solid pawn center with the development of the initiative on the kingside. Black intends to exert a figured influence on the center of whites, creating acute tactical complications in a number of variants.

In modern tournaments, there are grandmaster fights where rivals have a theoretical debate around the c4-pawn. At the same time, it is difficult for Black to defend with constant pawn tension in the center.
