Biography
Fedor Karlovich was born on October 12, 1941 in the village of Alekseevka, Nizhne-Ingashsky District, Krasnoyarsk Territory, in a family of deported Germans of the Volga Region . Fedor Schmidt in 1958 graduated from the Lower Ingash Secondary School No. 1 with a silver medal [1] . In 1963 he graduated from the Department of Chemistry of Irkutsk State University , and in 1964 Fyodor Karlovich graduated from the graduate school of the Institute of Petroleum and Coal Chemical Synthesis of Irkutsk State University . From 1964 to 1965 he served in the Soviet Army. F.K.Schmidt in 1965-1968 was a junior research fellow at the Research Institute of Petroleum and Coal Chemical Synthesis at Irkutsk State University . In 1967, Fedor Schmidt defended his thesis, and in 1979, his doctoral dissertation at the Institute of Chemical Physics. N. N. Semenova .
In 1968-1973 he worked as an assistant professor of the Department of Physical Chemistry of the Irkutsk Polytechnic Institute , from 1973 to 1980 he was the head of the Department of Physical and Colloid Chemistry of Irkutsk State University . In 1981-1989, he worked as vice-rector for scientific work of Irkutsk State University . Fedor Karlovich was rector of the Irkutsk State University in 1990-1997. Under the leadership of Fyodor Karlovich Schmidt, the construction of housing began for the faculty of the university, the new building of the scientific library of Irkutsk State University , which is one of the largest book storage facilities in the country with a fund of more than 3 million books, and new faculties were created: International, Sociological, Psychological , Faculty of Service and Advertising, Siberian-American Faculty of Management and the introduction of new educational and research technologies was ensured ology (opening of the first Internet-center) in the Irkutsk State University .
In 1997-2007 he was the head of the department of physical and colloid chemistry of Irkutsk State University . From 2007 to the present, Fedor Karlovich Schmidt has been working as a professor at the Department of Physical and Colloid Chemistry of Irkutsk State University .
In 1986-1989, F.K.Schmidt was a deputy of the Irkutsk City Council of People's Deputies.
1981-1991 - Chairman of the Knowledge Society in the Kirov District of the city of Irkutsk .
1990-2005 - Chairman of the Union of Scientific and Engineering Societies of the Irkutsk Region .
F.K.Schmidt is an excellent leader, a talented organizer, for more than 30 years he has been leading the work of the dissertation council at Irkutsk State University . In 1986-2001 he was the permanent chairman of the dissertation council for the defense of doctoral dissertations in inorganic and analytical chemistry, and from 1996 to 2001 Fedor Karlovich was chairman of the dissertation council on chemical kinetics and catalysis.
Schmidt Fedor Karlovich - a recognized expert in the field of metal complex catalysis in Russia and the world, he is the author of 14 monographs and 15 study guides, more than 500 scientific publications. Fedor Karlovich prepared 32 candidates and 11 doctors of chemical sciences.
For outstanding services in the field of science and education, Fyodor Karlovich Schmidt was awarded the title of Honorary Citizen of the city of Irkutsk in 2016.
