Biography
Born in a working class family. In 1954, he graduated from the Belarusian Language and Literature Department of the Philological Faculty of the Belarusian State University , in 1957 - the postgraduate course at the Belarusian Literature Department of the BSU . Worked at the Grodno Pedagogical Institute named after Yanka Kupala (in 1968–1974, Head of Department, then Associate Professor), from 1978 - Associate Professor of the Department of Belarusian Literature, since 1990 - Associate Professor of the Department of Belarusian Culture at Grodno University named after Yanka Kupala. Candidate of Philology.
Candidate of Philological Sciences (1963). Professor (1994). Member of the International Kupala Fund (1997). Awarded with state medals. Author of 527 literary-critical and cultural studies, including 16 books. Printed in the magazines " Polymya ", " Maladost ", "Krynіtsa", "Native words", "Dzeaslok", "Arche", "Bialoruskie Zeszyty Historyczne", the newspapers "Literature and Masters", "Literary Belarus", "Culture", “Zvyazda”, “Nastañnitskaya Gazeta”, “Narodnaya Volya”, “ Nasha Niva ”, “Grodzenskaya Prada”, etc., encyclopedias , scientific collections.

He has been in the field of criticism and literary criticism since 1958.
