Club career

Alfreton Town

Flint began his career in the local Pinkston team (11th division), until in the summer of 2008 he moved to the Alfreton Town Club of the Northern Conference .

In his 2008/2009 debut season, Aiden spent three months on loan at the Matlock Town Northern Premier League club, after which he was able to gain a foothold in Alfreton. In the 2009/2010 season, together with his team, he reached the final of the playoffs , where he lost to Fleetwood Town (1: 2). The next season, Aiden continued to perform successfully as part of Alfreton: in the first 20 rounds, the team suffered only one defeat, and the player attracted the attention of many scouts.

Swindon Town

In January 2011, Doncaster Rovers , Derby County and Luton Town were negotiating the transfer of Flint, but eventually the defender signed a 2.5-year contract with League One club Swindon Town [1] . He made his debut on February 5 in a home game with Rochdale (1: 1).

In March, Swindon was led by new manager Paul Hart , and Flint returned on loan until the end of the season to Alfreton [2] , with whom he became the champion of the Northern Conference. At the same time, Swindon flew to League Two at the end of the season.

On August 6, 2011, in the 1st round of the championship, Flint scored his debut goal for Swindon, hitting the gates of Crew Alexander (3-0) [3] . In his first full-fledged season, he played 40 matches, scoring 4 goals, and helped his team win a ticket to League One ahead of schedule. The following season, 2012/13 played 36 matches, missing part of the game due to injuries and disqualifications, but helped Swindon finish in a high 6th place in the playoffs zone. On May 6, 2013, in the second leg of the playoff semifinal in the 95th minute, he scored the equalizer against Brentford (3: 3), transferring the game to extra time, but his team was defeated in the penalty shootout [4] .

Bristol City

On June 11, 2013, Flint signed a 4-year contract with the Bristol City club, which flew to the League One of the Championship . The transfer amount was £ 300 thousand, with 20% of this amount received by Aiden’s previous club, Alfreton Town [5] . He made his debut on August 3 in the 1st round of the championship against Bradford City (2: 2). September 21, scored his first goal in a meeting against the former team - Swindon Town, but this did not help the robins to avoid defeat (2: 3). In the 2013/14 season, Aiden played 43 games and scored 3 goals, but his club failed to return to the Championship, finishing only in 12th place.

The 2014/15 season was the most successful defender in his career - in 57 games he scored 15 goals, becoming the champion of League One and the owner of the Football League Trophy as part of Bristol City [6] . On August 19, 2015, he scored the first goal at the Championship level, distinguishing himself in the 90th minute of the meeting with Leeds United and bringing his team a draw (2: 2) [7] . In the 2015/16 season, Aiden slightly reduced his performance, scoring 6 goals in 47 matches, but helped the robins finish 18th and keep their registration in the Championship.

On December 2, 2016, the defender extended the contract with Bristol until 2020 [8] . In the summer of 2017, Flint was interested in the Premier League clubs - West Ham and West Bromwich Albion , and in January 2018 - Brighton and Hove Albion , but all offers were rejected [9] .

On January 23, 2018, Flint scored a goal against Manchester City in the League Cup semifinal, but his team lost in a bitter struggle (2: 3) [10] .

Middlesbrough

On June 27, 2018, he moved to Middlesbrough , signing a 4-year contract [11] . The transfer amount was about £ 7 million. He made his debut on August 4 in the 1st round of the championship against Millwall (2: 2) [12] . On August 7, in a match of the 2nd round against Sheffield United (3-0), he opened the scoring for his goals for Middlesbrough [13] .

Team Career

In 2010, he was called up to the England amateur team , in which he played two matches - against the Wales amateur team (2: 2) and the Estonian youth team (1: 0). After signing a contract with the Swindon Town professional club, Flint lost the right to play for this team.
