Makrakomi ( Greek Δήμος Μακρακώμης [2] ) is a community (dim) in Greece . Included in the peripheral unit of Phthiotis in the periphery of Central Greece . The population of 16,036 inhabitants according to the 2011 census [2] . The area is 836.564 square kilometers [1] . The density of 19.17 people per square kilometer [2] . The administrative center is Sperkhias . Timos Papaeftimiu ( Θύμιος Παπαευθυμίου ) was elected as the Dimarch in the local elections of 2014.

Macracomi community was established in 1835. It is named after the ancient city of Makra Koma ( Μακρά Κώμη , "the big village") in Lokrid near the Thessaly border [3] . In 1912 ( ΦΕΚ 261Α ) the community was abolished. In 1990 ( ΦΕΚ 111Α ) the community was re-established. In 2010 ( ΦΕΚ 87Α ) under the Kallikratis program , the abolished communities of Agios Yorios Timfristos and Sperkhiada, as well as the Timfristos community, were added to the community [4] .
