Church of the Resurrection of Christ (Verkhotur'e)

The Church of the Resurrection of Christ is an Orthodox church in the town of Verkhoturye , Sverdlovsk Region [1] .

The Decree of the Government of the Sverdlovsk Region No. 207-PP dated March 10, 2011 was given the status of an architectural monument of regional significance [2] .

Content

History

The construction of a stone, two-throne, two-story building started on March 13, 1786. On November 22 of the same year, the lower tier was consecrated in honor of the Resurrection of the Lord. On July 29, 1806, the upper tier was consecrated in honor of the Savior’s Image of the Manual [3] .

In 1922, the property of the church was seized: “2 pounds 1 pound of 30 spools of silver” (33.1 kilograms). Closed in 1925, later used as a boiler room. Dome and bell tower demolished. Currently not being restored [3] .

Architecture

The building is located in the historic part of the city near the red line of Liberty Street and is one of the dominants of the coastal panorama [4] .

The elongated two-storey volume of the ship type with a three-part construction plan. The temple part is covered with an eight-pillar arch. Luchkovaya in terms of the apse of the temple volume. In the ground floor, the fractures of the walls and the boundaries between the church and the refectory are marked by pilasters carrying the interfloor cornice. The pilaster walls are cut through by three apertures in one axis. Some windows are false. Openings in "eared" frames with a lock and with raised eyebrows [4] .

Inside are two entrances from the west and from the north. Following the split room with the stairs to the second floor (disassembled) square rooms of the refectory and the temple follow each other. They are covered with decking arches - a semi-lobe and a box, respectively. The refectory and the altar under the spherical conch are connected with the temple through wide arches [4] .

On the second floor, the capped area and the temple are covered with arches - cylindrical and eight-ply closed, respectively. The overlap of the refectory and the altar are flat [4] .
