Career
Max Gunther is a native of the German city of Oberstdorf , in 2007 he began his appearances in karting , in which he remained until 2010. In 2011, Gunter began performing in open-wheel drive vehicles in the Formula BMW Talent Cup . In 2013, he competed in the ADAC Formula Master Championship with the ADAC Berlin-Brandenburg eV and managed to finish the season in second place. In the 2014 season, he was able to repeat this achievement again. In 2015, he made his debut in Formula 3, speaking for kfzteile24 Mücke Motorsport , but at the end of the season he ended up in Prema . Together with this team, Gunter took second place in the 2016 season, as well as third in the 2017 season.
FIA Formula 2
In 2018 , Max Gunther received a place in the BWT Arden team, which performs in the Formula 2 championship [1] . In the sprint race in Bahrain, he took second place, first rising to the podium, but after that the season was not very successful for Max until he won his first victory in this series in the sprint race at Silverstone [2] . Gunter spent the remaining stages of the season weakly, only once having arrived in points, and in the final two races on the Yas Marina circuit in Abu Dhabi he was replaced by Briton Dan Tictum [3] . Ultimately, Maximilian scored 41 points and finished 14th in his first season in Formula 2.
FIA Formula E
Gunther joined the Dragon Racing team as a test and backup pilot, he participated in the rookie tests in Marrakesh in 2018 and in the pre-season tests before the start of the fifth season . After the transition of Jerome D'Ambrosio to the team of Mahindra Racing [4] , Gunther got the place of one of the combat pilots of the team. He made his debut at ePri Ed Diriyah in December 2018. [5] The weekend was not very good, at first Gunter went into qualification, having earned only the sixteenth starting position, and then was forced to fight at the end of the peloton. He finished fifteenth, but behind him were former Formula 1 pilots Stoffel Vandorn and Felippe Massa , who also made their Formula E debut. After spending only three races in the Geox Dragon, Gunther's place was transferred to the Brazilian racer Felipe Nasru , who had previously played in Formula 1, after which Max himself became the reserve pilot of the team [6] . After three stages, Gunter again got behind the wheel of a car [7] [8] , and spoke until the end of the season. At times he managed to show a good result in qualification, which allowed him to create a good reserve for the race. In the remaining stages of the season, he finished twice with glasses. The first time this happened at the Paris Priest, where he took fifth place [9] , and the second at the Pri Pri Berne, where he again finished fifth [10] . With twenty points scored, he finished the season in seventeenth place in the standings, overtaking Jose Maria Lopez , his partner, who scored only three points, as well as Felipe Nasra , who played instead of Max in three stages and did not score a single point [11] .
Personal life
Gunther has two citizenships : Germany and Austria . In racing, he participates with a German license [1] .
