Found in East Asia : China [1] .
Description
The body length of the workers is about 4 mm. From the closely related species, Gnamptogenys quadrutinodules differs in the form of a petiol (it is laterally trapezoidal, and not square) and a subpetiolar protrusion (it is polygonal, not square); differs from the species Gnamptogenys taivanensis with smaller eyes (with 5 ommatidia in the maximum diameter, not 7) and a mesh sculpture (and transverse furrow). Pronotum dorsally without humeral denticles. The stalk between the breast and the abdomen consists of one nodular segment ( petiol ). The head and the whole body are covered with deep grooves. Antennae 12-segmented. Eyes are small, bulging. The jaws are sub-triangular. The species was first described in 2001 by Chinese worldmecologist Shanyi Zhou ( China ) [1] [3] .
