The Stanford Social Innovation Review is a quarterly magazine and social innovation website published by the Stanford Center for Philanthropy and Civil Society [1] at Stanford University . The magazine covers a wide range of issues [2] , including non-profit management, philanthropy , corporate citizenship, social change. It publishes a wide range of related videos, webinars and podcasts .

The publication was founded in 2003 by the Center for Social Innovation (CSI, grantee of the ) [3] at the Stanford Graduate School of Business . Today, SSIR distributes the print version in more than 400 retail outlets in Canada and the United States .
SSIR publishes In-Depth Series [4] in partnership with organizations such as the , Mission Investors Exchange [5] [6] , , and the Communications Network [7] .

Mission
SSIR exists for the promotion, training, inspiration in the field of social innovation through the search, cultivation and dissemination of the best scientific and practical knowledge [8] .
History and consequences
SSIR was launched in 2003 by the Center for Social Innovation (CSI) at Stanford Graduate School of Business [9] . Since 2010, the SSIR has been published at the Stanford Center for Charity and Civil Society (PACS) [10] .
Such concepts and phenomena as the “ nonprofit starvation cycle ” [11] and the [12] [13] [14] were first identified by the SSIR in 2009 and 2011, respectively. The latter term was introduced by John Kania ( Eng. John Kania ) and Mark Kramar ( Eng. Mark Kramar ) in an article titled “Collective Impact” and became the “buzzword” at number two in 2011 according to the . He was also recognized by [15] .
Current Activities
Since 2006, SSIR has held an annual conference of the Institute of Non-Commercial Management [16] , a two-day conference for senior leaders of non-profit organizations [17] . In 2015, SSIR started its annual Data on Purpose conference [18] [19] , which was later merged with the Do Good Data conference in 2017 [20] . In 2016, SSIR hosted the first “Borders of Social Innovation Development”, a forum for global leaders [21] [22] . SSIR also hosted SSIR Live, a series of webinars since 2009.
Awards
SSIR became the winner of several Maggie Awards as the “Best Quarterly” (2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014) [23] and received the award for “Best Web Publishing” (2016), honored with the Eddie Awards (2011, 2014) [24 ] , Ozzie Awards for the site (2014) and min's Best of the Web Awards for redesign (2013) [25] .
