History
The Sardinian [1] early Christian church appears in the Revelation of St. John the Evangelist as one of the seven churches of the Apocalypse .
The Sardinian bishopric of the Orthodox Church of Constantinople was established in 325 under the authority of the Ephesian Metropolis .
In 451, the bishopric acquired the status of a metropolis. In the 7th century, the Sardine Metropolitanate included 26 bishops, and in the 10th century - 27 bishops.
Around 1370, the metropolis was abolished, included in the Philadelphia Metropolis and became titular.
As a result of the second Greek-Turkish war , by 1922 no Greek Orthodox population remained on the diocese.
March 13, 1924 the activity of the metropolis was restored [2] .
