The early elections of the Governor of the Ivanovo Region took place in the Ivanovo Region on September 9, 2018, on a single voting day at the same time as the elections to the Ivanovo Regional Duma . The governor was elected for a term of 5 years.

As of July 1, 2018, 823,243 voters were registered in the region [1] .
The Chairperson of the Election Commission of the Ivanovo Region is Angelika Solovyova (since July 26, 2012 [2] , since May 23, 2016, powers have been extended [3] ; in 2005-2012, the commission was headed by Viktor Smirnov ).

Previous Events
In October 2013, Mikhail Men , who was supposed to head the Ministry of Construction and Housing and Communal Services of the Russian Federation, early left the post of governor of the Ivanovo region. President Vladimir Putin has appointed interim governor of the first 55-year-old deputy chairman of the government of the Ivanovo region, Pavel Konkov ( United Russia ). In September 2014, after a 14-year hiatus, gubernatorial elections were held . The turnout was only 36.85%. Pavel Konkov received 80% of the vote and was elected governor.
On October 10, 2017, Konkov resigned ahead of schedule, explaining that “a personnel decision was made” [4] . President Vladimir Putin has appointed Stanislav Voskresensky, interim governor of the 41-year-old deputy minister of economic development of the Russian Federation .
On October 26, 2017, the Ivanovo Regional Duma adopted amendments to the law “On the Election of the Governor of the Ivanovo Region”, according to which, among other things, the municipal filter was changed: the number of signatures of municipal deputies and heads of municipalities was reduced from 10% to 5%, however, the number of signatures of deputies of district and city councils and (or) heads of districts and city districts equal to 8% remained the same [5] .

- from July 15 to July 25, 2018 (until 6:00 p.m.), that is, 55–45 days before the election day — submission of documents for registration of candidates; applications must be accompanied by sheets of signatures of municipal deputies and a list of three candidates for the position of member of the Federation Council
- decision of the Election Commission on the registration of the candidate - within 10 days from the date of submission of documents to the election commission
- from August 11 to September 7 - the period of campaigning in the media (starts 28 days before the voting day)
- September 8 - "day of silence"
- September 9 - voting day
Nomination and registration of candidates
In the Ivanovo Region, candidates are nominated only by political parties that have the right to participate in elections. Self-nomination is not allowed. A Governor may be a citizen of the Russian Federation who has reached the age of 30 years.
Each candidate upon registration must submit a list of three people, one of which, if a candidate is elected, will become a representative of the regional government in the Federation Council .
For registration, the candidate needs the support of municipal deputies; voter support is not required.
Municipal Filter
The number of signatures of municipal deputies required to register a candidate for governor may vary from 5% to 10%. In the Ivanovo region, candidates must collect signatures of 5% of municipal deputies and heads of municipalities. Among them should be the signatures of deputies of district and city councils and (or) heads of regions and city districts in the amount of 8% of their total number. In this case, signatures must be obtained in at least three quarters of the districts and urban districts , that is, in 21 out of 27.
On June 9, 2018, the election commission published a calculation according to which each candidate must collect from 72 to 75 signatures (162-170 in 2014) of deputies of all levels and heads of municipalities, of which 40 to 42 (49-51 in 2014) - deputies of district councils and councils of urban districts and heads of districts and urban districts in at least 21 districts and urban districts [6] .
