On October 4, 2014, the Lugansk Football Union was created in the LPR. The president of the Union was the mayor of Lugansk, Manolis Pilavov , and the general director, Yuri Malygin . [2] The task of the new structure was the holding of the LNR championship and cup, and the creation of the LNR team, which played the first match on the sidelines of the republic in November 2014 with the Gornyak (Rovenki) team. [3] The official date for the creation of the LNR team was set on March 19, 2015, since on this day in Sukhum the Lugansk residents held their first national match with the national team of Abkhazia, losing 0-1.
