Story
France , XVII century . A troupe of stray actors stops for the night in the old castle of the impoverished Baron de Sigognac ( Jean Mare ). The Gascon Baron has a talent for writing and therefore decides to go with the actors and write plays for them. After some time, he has to replace the deceased actor, and he goes on the stage in the role of a comedian of Captain Thracass, but always hides his face under a mask so as not to be recognized. Upon arrival in Paris, one of the actresses, Isabella ( Genevieve Grad ), becomes a victim of the harassment of the young Duke de Vallbrez ( Gerard Barre ), but her heart belongs to Sigognac. The Baron considers it his duty to protect the girl from the duke and seriously injures him, after which it turns out that Isabella is the sister of the duke.
