The monument to Stephen the Great in Suceava is the largest monument of its kind in Romania. The total height with a pedestal is 23 meters. The size of the bronze equestrian statue: height - 8 m, length - 8 m, width - 2 m. The pedestal is made of travertine , dimensions: height - 15 m, length - 6, width - 2.10 m.
On the sides in the lower part of the pedestal there are two large bronze bas-reliefs depicting the battles of Stephen the Great and a scene from the life of his court. In front of the pedestal in the upper part is the bronze emblem of the Moldavian principality.
When the monument was opened on a pedestal, the words of President Nicolae Ceausescu were cast in bronze: “Defender of the land of ancestors, Stephen the Great, a legendary hero whose struggle and activities were devoted to the freedom of the fatherland and the people who laid the foundations for the creation of Romania” . On the side was a marble slab written in gold letters: "Opened on September 16, 1977, in the presence of Nicolae Ceausescu, Secretary General of the RCP , President of the SRR ." After the Romanian Revolution (1989), these inscriptions were removed from the monument.
