The Journal of Slavic Military Studies ( rus. Journal of Slavic military studies ) is a quarterly peer-reviewed scientific journal that publishes articles on the military history of Central and Eastern European Slavic peoples , as well as their history and geopolitics. The magazine also publishes book reviews. Until 1993, it was called “The Journal of Soviet Military Studies” (Russian Journal of Soviet Military Studies ).

Content
History
The magazine was founded in 1988 by an American military historian , director of the Bureau for the Study of the Soviet Army, Colonel of the US Armed Forces , David Glanz , who was its editor in chief. It was originally called The Journal of Soviet Military Studies, and mainly specialized in studying the history of the Red Army , and in particular its role in World War II (see World War II ). In addition to foreign ones, the works of Soviet (and later Russian) historians were regularly published in it. Later, the journal began to publish works devoted to the study of the Russian army in a global context. In this industry, the publication of this journal was an important incentive for the development of American Russian studies [1] . Not a little attention has been paid to the history of the Armed forces of the USSR . According to the definition of the publisher David Glanz, this magazine is [2]

In 1993, it was renamed The Journal of Slavic Military Studies . Since 2014, she has been ranked first in the among scientific journals on history [3] .
