Biography
Panah Huseynov was born in 1957 in the village of Karakashly, Sabirabad district of the Azerbaijan SSR , in the family of a collective farmer.
He graduated from the History Department of Baku State University (1980), graduate school of the Institute of Philosophy and Law of the Academy of Sciences of the Azerbaijan SSR.
He worked as a worker in the management of inter-farm construction in the Sabirabad region, then as a researcher at the Museum of Local History, a researcher at the Institute of Philosophy and Law of the Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan.
Since May 1992 - State Secretary of the Republic of Azerbaijan . In 1993, he served as Prime Minister of Azerbaijan .
After the resignation - one of the leaders of the opposition, one of the founders of the Popular Front of Azerbaijan , chairman of the executive committee of the Popular Front of Azerbaijan.
In 2003, he was arrested [6] on charges of organizing unrest on October 15-16 in Baku after the Presidential election in Azerbaijan [7] . In October 2004 he was sentenced to four years and six months in prison [8] . Released as a result of an amnesty in March 2005 [9] .
On November 6, 2005, he was elected to the Azerbaijani parliament in the 63rd Sabirabad First District [10] .
In 2010, he ran for Baku and did not go to parliament [11] . In 2015, he again ran for the 63rd Sabirabad First District [11] , but Elchin Guliyev won [12] .
