General information
The name Valle Hermoso can be translated from Spanish as a beautiful valley .
The area of the municipality is 900 km², which is 1.12% of the total state area [3] , and the highest point is 21 meters, located in the settlement of Empalme [1] .
It borders with other municipalities in the state of Tamaulipas: in the east with Matamoros and in the west with Rio Bravo [4] .
