Pardoz, Gregory

Gregory Pardos known as Gregory of Corinth ( Greek Γρηγόριος Κορίνθιοι; about 1070 - about 1156) - Byzantine writer, orator, grammar, priest, Metropolitan of Corinth (after 1092). Theologian and scholar, compiler of interpretations on the canons of great holidays, author of works on the Greek language [2] . A prolific commentator from ancient authors.

Biography

Originally from Corinth . He was a teacher of the Patriarch of Constantinople school. Later he became the metropolitan of Corinth .

Gregory of Corinth - the author of several philological works:

  • “On the uniqueness of dialects” (“ὶερὶ τῶν & psili; ιδιωμάτων τῶν διαλωτων”), a treatise on ancient Greek dialects , written on the basis of the works of an ancient grammar of the 1st century BC Trifon and John Philophone . The oldest extant edition of which was published in 1493 in Milan ;
  • “On the compilation of speech” (“ερὶ συντάξεως λόγου”), a treatise on elementary grammar and syntax ;

Author of a cycle of poems on the Lord's and Mother of God Holidays, commentaries on the liturgical poetry of Cosmas Mayumsky and Ioann Damascus (Ἐξηγήσεις ἐις τοὺς κανόνας τῶν δεσποτικῶν ἐορτῶν) (with an emphasis on the literary works of women and women, with an emphasis on the literary works of women and women.)
