History
It was indicated on the old plans of Baku and was discovered during excavations in 1964 [1] [2] .
As a result of the archaeological excavations, the general contour of the square and partly the arcade were almost completely revealed. Under the restoration project of 1964, under the leadership of Shamil Fatullayev, the arcade was restored, and the square was landscaped. The arcade of the building is one of the few that rests on stone columns from a single vertical block with a base and a capital .
On the south side, the square closed the mosque of an asymmetric composition. After the capture of Baku in 1806 by Russian troops, the mosque was turned into a church. In the Soviet period, the mosque and church were demolished.
As a result of archaeological research, 52 graves were also identified, some of which were buried twice. The gravestones found have the appearance of stone sculptures of a ram, a stele, and carved ornaments.
