Beginning of a military career
In July 1910 he entered the military service as a fan-cadet (candidate for officer), in the artillery regiment. Since October 1912 - lieutenant.
World War I
Commanded the battery. Since January 1916 - Senior Lieutenant. During the war he was awarded the Iron Crosses of both degrees and two more orders. Was injured.
Between World Wars
He continued his service in the Reichswehr . By the beginning of World War II - the chief of staff of the 18th Army Corps, Major General.
World War II
In September-October 1939 - participated in the Polish campaign . Awarded the levels to the Iron Crosses of both degrees (rewarding).
Since February 1940 - Chief of Staff of the 2nd Army .
In May-June 1940 - participated in the French campaign. Since February 1941 - lieutenant general.
Since December 1941 - participated in the German-Soviet war, commander of the 49th mountain corps , fighting on the Mius river.
Since March 1942 - in the rank of General of the Mining Forces. The fighting in the Caucasus. August 1, 1942 - awarded the Knight's Cross.
In 1943, the 49th mountain corps retreated to the Kuban, then to the Crimea.
In February 1944, General of the Mountain Forces Conrad was awarded the Golden German Cross. From May to December 1944 - in the command reserve.
Since January 1945 - commander of the 68th Army Corps (in Hungary). Retreat to Austria. After the surrender of Germany, May 8, 1945 - captured.
