Hokuto ( Jap. 北斗 ) and Super Hokuto ( Japan 北斗 ー パ ー 北斗 Sūpā hokuto ) is a special Express service that runs between Sapporo and Hakodate stations in Hokkaido ( Japan ) and operated by Hokkaido Railway Company (JR Hokkaido). Travel time on Super Hokuto is approximately 3 hours and 10 minutes, which is 10 minutes faster than regular Hokuto .

The launch of Super Hokuto Express took place on March 1, 1994, [1] , reducing the travel time between Sapporo and Hakodate by approximately 30 minutes due to higher speed, including when passing through numerous bends on the line.
Tilting body
Under the Hokuto brand, diesel trains of the KiHa 183 series are operated. Under the Super Hokuto brand, diesel trains of the KiHa 281 and KiHa 283 series with a tilting body are operated.
