In adult football, he made his debut in 1953 with performances for the Glentoran team , in which he spent two seasons, after which he joined the Glenavon club for one season.

1956 became the game of the Irish “Shamrock Rovers” , in which, however, he did not linger and moved to England in the same year, becoming a player of the club “Mansfield Town” . He played for the team from Mansfield the next two seasons of his playing career. Most of the time spent with Mansfield Town was a major player on the team.
