Club career
In adult football, he made his debut in 1953 with performances for the Glentoran team , in which he spent two seasons, after which he joined the Glenavon club for one season.
1956 became the game of the Irish “Shamrock Rovers” , in which, however, he did not linger and moved to England in the same year, becoming a player of the club “Mansfield Town” . He played for the team from Mansfield the next two seasons of his playing career. Most of the time spent with Mansfield Town was a major player on the team. In 1958 he signed a contract with the club "Portsmouth" , in which he spent the next three years of his playing career.

Soon he received a lifelong ban on performing at a professional level, as well as a 6-month prison sentence for participating in match-fixing matches with Mansfield.
