Biography

Until the age of 17, Anton Karpukhov trained in the Smolensk Youth Sports School No. 5 in football , sought to become a professional footballer and play for Moscow Spartak . In 2003 he entered the Smolensk Industrial and Economic College, where he began to play volleyball more and chose this sport largely due to the perseverance of his father and teacher of the Children's Sports School No. 7, Honored Trainer of Russia Alexander Fedorovich Gavrilov [1] . In 2007, he became a student at the Smolensk State Academy of Physical Culture, Sports and Tourism and began playing for the SGAFK-Phoenix team in the Premier League B of the Russian Championship .

Karpukhov progressed very quickly, since 2010 he was the captain and leader of the Phoenix attacks [2] . In the 2013/14 season, under the leadership of Sergey Gribov, the team made it to the final of the Premier League “B”, but at the end of the championship they lost their previous funding and essentially broke up. Anton Karpukhov, who went to Ugra-Samotlor for viewing in April 2014, eventually signed a contract with the Nizhnevartovsk club [3] .

In the year of his debut in the Super League, Karpukhov immediately became a player in the main squad of Samotlor. In 35 championship matches, he scored 556 points and shared third place in the list of the most productive volleyball players of the season with Wilfredo Leon . Anton played a number of matches in the diagonal position and became the best in the number of points scored, as well as the best serveer among the participants of this stage of the championship. His game did not go unnoticed by the coach of the second national team of Russia Sergey Shlyapnikov . In May 2015, Karpukhov was called to the team, but did not get into the final application for the European Games [4] .

At the same time, he moved from Ugra-Samotlor to Kemerovo Kuzbass [5] and also appeared in leading roles in the new club. In the 2017/18 season, he became the silver medalist of the Russian Cup , helped the Siberian team to take 4th place in the Super League and for the first time in its history to win a ticket to European competition. In April 2018, he entered the application of the Russian team for the League of Nations .

The debut match of Anton Karpukhov for the national team led by Sergei Shlyapnikov took place on May 25, 2018 in the Polish city of Katowice in a match against the Canadian team [6] . In most of the preliminary stage of the League of Nations, he confidently replaced the injured captain Dmitry Volkov in the starting lineup, and then performed in the “Final Six”, which ended with the victory of the Russian national team. In the same year, Karpukhov was part of the expanded national team for the World Cup , but during the preparation for the world championship at one of the trainings, he received a knee injury [7] .

In the season 2018/19, Anton Karpukhov as part of the Kuzbass became the champion of Russia .
