Club career
In the top Polish division he made his debut in 1989 with performances for лljensk ’, in which he spent four seasons, taking part in 110 championship matches.
In the summer of 1993, after the team relegated to the second division , Matysek went to Germany, where he played in the Second Bundesliga for the clubs Fortuna (Cologne) and Gutersloh . There he became one of the best goalkeepers and in 1998 he was invited to the Bayer 04 club of the highest German division . Here, Adam immediately ousted the long-term goalkeeper Dirk Heinen from the base and played all the matches in the 1998/99 season and became the vice-champion of Germany. In the second season, after unsuccessful games in the Champions League against Lazio and Dynamo Kiev, Australian Frank Juric took a place in the goal for a short time, but Matysek regained his first number and again became the vice champion with the team. In the 2000/01 season, Adam was injured and lost competition to the Swiss Zuberbuhler . At the end of the season, Matisek returned to Poland, having played 118 matches in the Second Bundesliga and 78 in the Bundesliga [1] .
During 2001-2002 he defended the colors of the Zaglembe club (Lubin), after which in the same year he completed his professional playing career at the Radomsko club. Altogether, he played 136 games in the top division of Poland [2] .
International Career
December 3, 1991 made his debut for the national team of Poland in a friendly game against Egypt . At the end of the twentieth century, he was the main goalkeeper of the Polish team. In March 2001, in the qualifying match for the World Cup against Norway in Oslo, he became one of the heroes of the match and helped the team win with a score of 3: 2. However, in the 65th minute of the match, the goalkeeper received a shoulder injury, which affected his further career. Returning to the game, he did not return to his previous form and since then has played in only two matches for the national team.
As part of the national team, he participated in the 2002 World Cup in Japan and South Korea, but did not enter the field, giving way to a younger goal, Jerzy Dudek . During his career in the national team, which lasted 12 years, he spent 34 matches in the form of the country's main team, having conceded 23 goals [3] .
Coach Career
From July 1, 2005 to July 2014, Adam Matssek worked as a goalkeeper coach at the German club Nuremberg , until he terminated the contract for personal reasons [4] .
Since November 2016, he has been the sports director of the Shlyansk club.
Personal life
He has a wife Elzbieta and two daughters: Alexandra and Natalia.
