Estremadura ( port. Estremadura ; [ (ɨ) ʃtɾɨmɐ'duɾɐ ]) is a historical province of Portugal off the Atlantic coast, along the banks of the Tagus River , the center is the city of Lisbon . In 1974, the area was 7.95 thousand km², the population - 2 million 234 thousand people [1] .
It consisted of 29 municipal districts ( port. Conselho ) located on the territory of modern districts ( port. Distrito ) Leiria , Lisbon and Setubal .

- Leiria County : Alcobasa , Bombarral , Caldas da Rainha , Marinha Grande , Nazare , Obidos , Peniche , Porto de Mos .
- Lisbon County : Alenker , Arruda dos Vinhos , Cadaval , Cascais , Lisbon , Lorez , Lorignan , Mafra , Oeiras , Sintra , Sobral de Monte Agras , Torres Vedras .
- Setubal District : Alcohet , Almada , Barreiro , Mojta , Montijo , Palmela , Seishal , Sesimbra , Setubal .
