Grapsoidea (lat.) - a superfamily of decapod crustaceans from the infra- order of crab ( Brachyura ). Many representatives lead a semi-land way of life [2] . Grapsoidea contain relatively many species that are terrestrial (land-living), terrestrial (migrating to the sea for breeding only), or living in fresh water.

The distinction between Grapsidae and Plagusiidae needs to be revised; the latter, at least, not monophyletic. The same is apparently true for several genera in Sesarmidae. The closest living relatives of Grapsoidea are Ocypodoidea. In fact, they seem paraphyletic to each other, and it seems justified to combine Ocypodoidea into Grapsoidea
